Introduced with its companion Constantinople, Istanbul is also a modern interpretations of Turkish arabesque motifs. Visiting the city prior to designing these rugs, Gardner was inspired by the Islamic designs and patterns that are mostly seen in tile and architectural features. Here she brings a contemporary freshness to some familiar gestures to compose a rug design that, depending on color and scale, is equally comfortable in contemporary and transitional interiors.
