Since we started emma gardner design -- a collection for designers and the trade, we wanted to create for a larger audience and for Emma to have the chance to do more of her own art work. We slowly moved towards this goal, but it wasn't until we moved our home and business to Petaluma, California that this vision is being realized with emma at home and our new flagship store here in town.
It is a place to interact with people daily and directly, to find inspiration in the wonderful community here while extending what we offer nationally through better independent retailers. We think of it as both a store and a design laboratory, a place to try out new products we think are great and innovative, as well as brand new designs.
emma at home is a collection of hand-tufted rugs of singular design and quality, embroidered linen pillows, soft baby alpaca throw blankets, giclees of original paintings on stretched canvas, long-burning soy candles with delicious scents, case goods, upholstered chairs and sofas and, over the near and far terms, many more beautiful things.
"My approach is always to try to stay true to my own inspiration, being aware of what's going on in the design world but avoiding becoming slave to it, or trying to second guess trends. I have tried to make the most beautiful designs I can, using color combinations I love, expanding into the exciting world of new products -- new surfaces to design and beautify.
And while we continue to work with clients on made-to-order rugs through the trade, I am thrilled to now be able to design products that are more varied, more affordable and to let my love of color reign freely."
